H. Johannes Witteveen is an economic adviser and was the former Managing Director of the IMF from 1973 until 1978. Previously he was Minister of Finance of the Netherlands (1963-65 and 1967-71) and a Member of Parliament (1965-67).

He has served as a director and advisor on international economic and monetary affairs for various Dutch and international companies. From 1948 to 1963, he was a Professor of Economics teaching business cycle theory and economic policy at the Netherlands School of Economics in Rotterdam.
