Martín Abeles is currently director of the Economics Working Group in the Argentina Observatory and a faculty member at the Graduate Program in International Affairs of the New School University.

He is affiliated with the Center of Economics and Finance for Development of Argentina (CEFID-AR). Between 1996 and 2000 he was a research fellow at the Economics and Technology Department of the Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO) in Buenos Aires.

He studied economics at the University of Buenos Aires, from which he graduated in 1995, and received his PhD in economics from the New School University in 2005. His main fields of interest are political economy, macroeconomics and development economics.
