Martin Gilman (1948) a former senior representative of the IMF in Russia, is a professor at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

Earlier he was assistant director in the IMF's Policy Development and Review Department responsible for sovereign debt and official financing questions, representing the IMF at the Paris Club.

In 2001-2002 he taught economics in Moscow and drafted a book about Russia. Prior to that, he worked as the IMF's senior resident representative in Moscow. Earlier, he dealt with convertibility questions, review of negotiating briefs for economic adjustment programmes and G-7 coordination.

He joined the IMF in 1981, after working at the OECD and teaching economics in Paris and in England. He holds degrees from the London School of Economics, as well as from Johns Hopkins University and University of Pennsylvania.
